Reflection Post 4

6.     Create specific goals for your writing for next year.  How will you reach these goals?

My goals for next year are to write longer papers. I want to write a page or two extra than the maximum pages assigned. I want to use my teacher more for help, they can help me improve my work. I want to make A's on my papers and get good feedback on them.

4.     What are your strengths as a writer?  Be sure to provide specific evidence and to use the language we’ve developed in class.

My strengths as a writer are my abilities to use detail, get my thoughts onto paper, and my ability to find bigger words to use. I use details to enhance my writing and make the reader understand what I'm trying to say. I do a great job of getting what think about onto my paper. I am able to think of things and get it on to the paper the way I thought of it. I use bigger words to make my writing more interesting and less boring.

3.    What have you learned about yourself as a writer this year?  What improvements have you made in your writing since the beginning of the year?

I have learned that I am a better short writer than I am long writer. For instance I write blog posts better than I do personal narratives or literary analysis. I have a better time processing shorter loads of information than bigger loads. Improvements I have made are learning how to write with a lot of detail. I still need some more work with it but it is better than I was doing. Next year I will work hard to improve my work.

Reflection Post 1

  1. Reflect on your writing center experience(s) in the second semester, whether you visited for the research paper, your portfolio work, or both.  What was the focus of your meeting, and how did you use this meeting to move the piece forward?

I went to the writing center for my Portfolio to get my Personal Narrative revised. I met with a great writing fellow. We looked at the run-on sentences I had, the amount of details I had, and the more information I needed. I enjoy the writing center. I like meeting with different people to see how they each view my work. I get very helpful tips from them, and they showed me what I'm doing wrong and what I'm doing well. I implemented the things she taught me into my work and I think it turned out well. Next year I will definitely use the writing center more. I feel like they can really help my papers and work by providing good feedback.
